Walker Kelly

Walker L. Kelly passed away November 7, 2012 at NMMC- WP in West Point, MS. Funeral services will be held at Robinson Funeral Home in West Point Thursday, November 8 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Rev. Dale Funderburg officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia Daffron Kelly, 2 daughters, Debi K. Atkins (Gary) of Columbus, MS, Donna K. Kelly of Shawnee Mission, KS, a granddaughter, Kelly Elizabeth Brigham of Shreveport, LA, and a brother, Jerry D. Kelley of Aliceville, AL as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Esom Johnson Kelley and Anne E. Kelley of Columbus, MS. a brother, Franklin Kelley of Columbus, and a sister, Peggy Anne Kelley Leonard of Mobile Alabama. A graduate of New Hope High School, he served in the US Air Force, and then graduated from MSU where he received a degree in accounting. He retired as comptroller from C. C. Clark Inc. in Starkville, MS where he was on the board of directors. Walker enjoyed his retirement years, but missed all the special people he worked with through the years. Several of them stayed in touch with him and those calls, visits were really day brighteners for him. Walker, a Baptist, loved God, his family, his friends, farming and MSU football and basketball. One of his friends commented that if you wanted to know any statistics about MSU football, all you needed to do was ask Walker and he would tell you the players, where they played ball, their stats and where their parents worked. We are grateful to Dr. Ed Miller, Mrs. Jeana Whitecar, RN, Mrs. Paula Miller RN, Dr. Chris Varva of Oxford, Dr .Richard Hendrick and Dr. Dan Warlick of Tupelo for the wonderful care they provided to Walker and the time they all spent explaining medical situations to family members. A special thanks also to the staff at NMMC-West Point…a really great team of caring professionals. Richard Kelley Leonard of Mobile and Mitchell Roberts of Aliceville, AL Honorary pallbearers: Roy Baxter of Alvaton, KY, Bob White and Dal Clark Jr. of Bowling Green, KY, Albert Clark and Harold Clark of Starkville, James Whitson of Columbus; James Davidson of West Point, and Charles Sansing of Macon. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice or to NMMC- West Point Foundation or Crittenton Children's Hospital, 10918 Elm Avenue, Kansas City, MO.
