Tom Darnell

Thomas Hopkins Darnell, Sr. known as Tom by his family and friends passed away Friday December 23, 2022 at Dugan Memorial Home at the age of 79. He was born July 19, 1943 to the late Helen Hopkins Darnell and James Edwin Darnell. He was a member of First Baptist Church of West Point for many years. He was a veteran of the US Army. He loved playing golf at the West Point County Club. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed getting books from the Bryan Public Library. He loved taking care of his puppies.

A graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM Tuesday December 27, 2022 at Friendship Cemetery in Columbus with Rev. Dale Funderburg officiating. Visitation will be 1-2 PM Tuesday at Robinson Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Moore, John Early, Ross Darnell, Mike Martin. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Ned Miller, and members of the Randy Hamblin Sunday school class.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Darnell of West Point; 3 sons, Michael Lewis Martin (Ramona) of OK, Thomas H. Darnell Jr. (Trixie) of West Point, Charles Edwin Darnell (Karrie) of Iowa; brother, James Darnell (Kristen) of NY; 7 grandchildren, Melissa Jernigan (Jon), Steven Martin (Alissa), Ashley Darnell, Ross Darnell (Schyler), Nicholas Darnell, Grant Darnell, Alex Darnell; 7 great grandchildren.
