Richard F. Echols Richard Francis Echols passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016 at NMMC-West Point at the age of 91. He was born September 3, 1924 in Oktibbeha County to the late Susie Lee Mobley and Joel Hunter Echols. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corp serving in WWII. He was an ASE Certified Master Auto Mechanic and Service Manager for Mitchell Buick for 25 years. He then taught auto mechanics at the West Point High School Vo-Tech until his retirement. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in West Point where he sang in the choir for over 63 years. The Funeral Service will be Sunday May 29, 2016 at 3 PM at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Shannon officiating. Burial will follow in West Point Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Kyle Chrestman, Kody Chrestman, Hunter Echols, Joshua Easterling, Hall Ford, and Hubert Caston. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Chancel Choir, members of the Friendly Fellowship Class, Herbert Ingram, Billy Buck Staggers, and Billy Milican. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-3 PM at the church. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Alice Echols of West Point; sons, Gary Echols (Dee) of West Point, Raymond Echols (Marianne) of Huntsville, AL; daughter, Debbie Chrestman (Dirk) of Wesson, MS; 6 grandchildren, Emily Easterling (Joshua), Kyle Chrestman, Kody Chrestman, Morgan Echols, Jillian Ford (Hall), Hunter Echols; and 1 great granddaughter, Madelyn Easterling. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 6 brothers. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Music Program, PO Box 293, West Point, MS 39773.
