Matthew Garcia

Matthew Garcia passed away February 18, 2024 at NMMC-Tupelo at the age of 86. He was born September 21, 1937 in Texas to the late Willie and Maggie Cantu Garcia.

He served in the Army National Guard and worked as an operator at Southern Natural Gas Company.  

He is survived by his son, Ronald Garcia of West Point; daughter, Lisa Andresen of West Point; brothers, Roy Garcia Sr., Julius Garcia both of Texas; 5 grandchildren, Adam Andresen, Ronald Garcia (Morgan), Stephen Garcia (Heather), Mary Catherine Garcia, Christy Weaver; and 8 great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife whom he married in 1962, Carrie Garcia. 

Funeral Mass will be 10 AM Saturday February 24, 2024 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Binh Nguyen officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Adam Andresen, Ronald Garcia, Stephen Garcia, Jay McKee, Josh Watson, B J Smitherman. Honorary pallbearers are Steve McKee, Johnny Williams, co workers at Southern Natural Gas. Visitation with family and friends will be 8-10 AM Saturday at the church.
