Mary Murphy

Mary Blankenship Murphy, 90, of West Point passed away on Thursday June 26, 2014 at NMMC in West Point. Mrs. Murphy was born on November 12, 1923 in West Point to the late George and Ellen Bennett Blankenship. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Wesley Wesson Sunday School Class, and Marcella Joiner Circle. She also loved playing Bridge with her friends. She is survived by a son Robert Heard Murphy Jr. (Janice) of Olive Branch, a daughter Judy Murphy Staggers (Billy Buck) of West Point, two grandsons William Robert Staggers (Celsie) of Columbus, John Murphy Staggers (Sarah) of Starkville, and two great-granddaughters Natalie Grace Staggers and Samantha Murphy Staggers. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert H. "Bobby" Murphy. Services for Mrs. Murphy will be 3 PM Sunday June 29, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in West Point with Rev. Jeff Shannon and Rev. Ben Rosenkrans officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Staggers, John Murphy Staggers, Harold Clark, Ben Turnipseed, Stan Lautar, and Lee Turnipseed. Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Ed Miller, Dr. TN Braddock, Dr. Joe Yates, Dr. Walt Cosby, Bob Wyman, Terry Benson, Larry Benson, Ricky Benson, Bradley Brand, Rev. Don Bishop, Thad Buck, Mike Mathews, Belk Weems, Bucky Kellogg, Robbie Robinson, staff at NMMC-West Point, and her church family and friends. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:30 PM till 3 PM Sunday at the church.
