Jeanette Bailey

Jeanette Mitchell Bailey, age 57, of Starkville, MS died peacefully on July 17, 2026 surrounded by the loving presence of her son Corey, Corey’s fiancé Abby, favorite brother Edwin “Bubba”, and sister-in-law Pam at Corey and Abby’s residence in Jasper, AL.

She was born March 1, 1969 in Jackson, MS to Barbara Anderson Mitchell and Edwin Mitchell Sr. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Mitchell, and grandson, Jace Salmon. She is survived by her son, Corey Bailey (Abby Warner); daughter, Treasure Mitchell Salmon (Joseph); father, Edwin Mitchell, Sr.; brother, Edwin Mitchell Jr. (Pam, Memory, Victor, Denver, and Tanner); sisters, Angel Griffin, Anne Cob and Amanda Murillo; and grandchildren David Cael Stallings, Harper Johnson, Keaton and Edie Salmon.

Jeanette had an inquisitive soul and an eagerness for learning new things to solve complex problems – she always had questions. After graduating from Starkville High School, Class of 1987, Jeanette continued her pursuit of knowledge at Mississippi State University. She was a Bulldog through and through, often enjoying tailgates and football games with her family and friends ringing her homemade cowbells. In addition to her studies there, she worked full time since 2006 until her cancer diagnosis in 2023 forced her into an early retirement. She served multiple roles during her time at MSU with her most notable being a Manager for the Sponsored Programs Accounting Department and Manager of Shuttle Operations where she played a quintessential role in expanding public transport capabilities to encompass the City of Starkville. She did all of this while providing a stable, loving household as a single parent to her son and attaining her Bachelor of Business Administration and working towards a Master’s degree in the same concentration. While her love for spreadsheets, budgets, and organization ran strong, her love for her family ran stronger. Jeanette never let a birthday, holiday, or milestone go uncelebrated.

She loved crafting, decorating her porch, baking cakes and getting everyone together. Though she had many accomplishments in life, Jeanette always said her greatest accomplishment was her son. She loved being a mother, a sister, a daughter and a Granna. In her final days, all Jeanette wanted was to be surrounded by her family and her dog, Jingles. Though her time on Earth was short, Jeanette found peace through her love of Jesus Christ and solace in one of her many favorite Scriptures, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens” – Ecclesiastes 3:1. By this she persevered to carry her cross with the promise that all who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior will find rest.

Services will be 10 AM Tuesday July 21, 2026 at Robinson Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Robertson officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Corey Bailey, Edwin Mitchell, Jr., Victor Mitchell, Mike Mitchell, Denver Mitchell, Kevin Mitchell. Visitation will be 9-10 AM Tuesday at Robinson Funeral Home. Robinson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
