Jacob Garrett

Jake Melvin Garrett passed away on Wednesday July 3, 2013 at NMMC-West point at the age of 92. He was born June 23, 1921 in Texas to the late Hattie McCleskey and Leslie Garrett. He was a veteran of the US Navy and served in WWII. He moved to Arizona in 1938 and worked for Phelps Dodge Copper Co for 35 years. He moved to MS in 1981 and was a member of Siloam Baptist Church. Services will be 2 PM Friday at Siloam Baptist Church with Rev. Doran Henry officiating. Burial will follow in McPherson Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rush Robinson, Alex Robinson, Mark Stafford, Gabe Stafford, Bobby Brand, Claude Cartee. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Siloam Baptist Church.Visitation will be Friday from 1pm to service time at the church. He is survived by his wife Margie Garrett of West Point; brother, Sidney Garrett of Pearce, AZ; sisters, Opal Speck and Helen Sines, both of Clyde, TX.
