Hugh Williams Cooper passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at the age of 70. Born June 24, 1953 to the late Hugh Williams Cooper and Carolyn Justice Cooper, Hugh was a long-time resident of West Point and raised his family there with his beloved wife. He received his master’s degree in business from Mississippi State University, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He was former owner of the Justice Company in West Point and dutifully served as past president of MS Wholesale Grocers Association, as well as past president of the Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, Hugh served as City Selectman for West Point and was a member of First United Methodist Church. Hugh was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His biggest source of joy was spending time with his beloved granddaughter, Carolyn Grace. He was an avid golfer and was his happiest when he was caddying at various golf tournaments, including USGA events and for professionals like Nancy Lopez and Fuzzy Zoeller.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Friday October 20, 2023 at Robinson Chapel, with the Rev. Darian Duckworth officiating. Visitation will be 10-11 AM Friday at Robinson Funeral Home. Burial will follow with family in Greenwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Roger Pryor, Ed Rice, Scotty Allen, Marion Johnson, David Hicks, and Tim Robinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Richard Mullens, Kenny Dill, Eddie Holcomb, Sonny Burt, Mark Kennedy, Matthew Kennedy, Rick Faucette, Glenn McCullough and Rodney Paulk.
Hugh is survived by his wife, Vicki Cooper of West Point; daughters, Maureen Cooper of Memphis, TN and Camille Cooper of Starkville; and, his grandchild, Carolyn Grace Cooper.
