Helen Cerelle Gammill Pollard passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 5, 2016. Helen was born on October 28, 1928, in Webster County, Mississippi, the youngest of ten children of Wesley Lafayette Gammill and Mary Palmer Gammill. She was salutatorian of her class at Mathiston High School and also attended Wood Junior College. Helen married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Charles Sedric Pollard, who adored and cherished her. They made their home in West Point, Mississippi, where Charles was a banker and where Helen both volunteered and worked for many years in the West Point Public School System, retiring in 1990. Helen and Charles enjoyed 44 years of marriage until his death. Helen's life was focused on her faith and her family. She also loved baking and the needle arts, especially crochet and quilting. She participated for many years with a quilting group creating quilts for underprivileged children. She knew and loved her Bible, and this love was demonstrated by her life. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in West Point for over fifty years. Helen leaves behind her beloved children and their spouses: Libby and Mark Adams (New Orleans) and Chuck and Pat Pollard (Denver). She adored her four grandchildren and their spouses: Pierce and Cameron Adams (New Orleans), Cathy and Jon June (Salt Lake City), Angie and TJ Covert (Las Vegas), and Scott Pollard (Denver). She was especially proud of her three great-grandsons: Holden June, Winston June, and Hays Adams. She also is survived by her beloved sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Virginia and J. B. Cox of Columbus, Mississippi, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Helen's family requests kind words spoken or kind deeds done for others in her memory. Her family suggests Poydras Home in New Orleans, First Baptist Church in West Point, Bryan Public Library in West Point, or the donor's favorite charity for donations made in Helen's memory. Visitation will be held on Friday evening 5:00-7:00 at Robinson Funeral Home in West Point. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at 2:00 at Greenwood Cemetery in West Point with Rev. Dale Funderburg officiating.
