Gary Hamilton

July 5, 1949 — October 10, 2025

Gary Crawford Hamilton, 76, of West Point, Mississippi, died peacefully at home on October 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Gary was born on July 5, 1949, in Arkansas to Dr. and Mrs. James Hamilton. A gifted athlete from an early age, he became a star basketball and tennis player in high school. It was in Houston, Mississippi, where he met the love of his life, Judy Stembridge, who would become his devoted wife of 56 years. Gary graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1971 with a degree in accounting and achieved the remarkable feat of passing his CPA exam on the first attempt. He worked as a CPA and Chief Financial Officer throughout his professional life, continuing his work with dedication until illness overtook him in June 2025. From childhood, Gary was known as a loyal friend. His kindness and generosity touched everyone who knew him. Above all, Gary cherished his family and loved being a grandpa. His grandson Noah was his pride and joy. Gary was a member of First Presbyterian Church, EPC, in West Point. He was a phenomenal golfer and passionate for Ole Miss football. He treasured traveling to Oxford for home games and to away games with Judy and their close friends, always wearing his Rebel pride with joy.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife Judy, their son James, daughter-in-law Claudia, and grandson Noah, his mother-in-law Fay Stembridge, sister-in-law Kathy Hamilton, nephews Brian and Mike Hamilton and their families, brother-in-law Jon Stembridge with wife Diana, nieces Mattie and Riley, brother-in-law Joseph Stembridge, and nephew Jess and his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dr. Jimmy Hamilton.

A memorial service will take place later this year at a date to be determined for family and friends.
