Dr. Nolan Lamar Vickers passed away November 28, 2025 at NMMC-West Point at the age of 88. He was born November 9, 1937 to the late John Smith Vickers and Thelma Lindsey Vickers. He was a coach before he became superintendent of the Starkville School District for 25 years. He then served as superintendent for Greenville School District for 8 years. Then he moved to West Point and served 12 years as superintendent for Oak Hill Academy.
He is survived by his wife, Dr. Janet Nolan Vickers of West Point; sons, Ronald Keith Vickers (Lisa) of Sturgis, William Sweatt (Haley) of Meridian; 2 sisters, Joan Vaughan (Dr. Charles) of Starkville, Martha Denson of Sturgis; brothers-in law, Ron Nolan, Pat Nolan, Mike Nolan, Tim Nolan, Dennis Nolan, Brian Nolan; sisters-in-law, Judith Montry, Christine Weiss; 2 grandchildren, Claire Vickers, and McKenzie Sweat; several nieces and nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law, Billy Jack Denson.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
