Charles Whitehead

Charles Whitehead of West Point passed away on Friday April 27, 2012 at Darlington Oaks Community Hospice at the age of 71. He was born August 1, 1940 in Crawford to the late Georgia Edwards and Roy Whitehead. He served in the US Army and was a member of Riverside Chapel Baptist Church. He was a truck driver for Sara Lee for 32 years. He drove 3 million miles without an accident. Funeral services will be Monday April 30, 2012 at 11 AM at Robinson Chapel with the Rev. Jim Sallee officiating. Burial will be in Bethesde Cemetery in Crawford. Visitation will be Sunday April 29, 2012 from 5-7 PM at Robinson Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Thomas Allen, Norman Nevels, Willie Hightower, Michael Millis, Sammy Buskirk, Jerry Tucker, Dan Harris, Daniel Coggins. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Andrew Wartak and nurses at Community Hospice. He is survived by his spouse, Elinor Whitehead of West Point; daughter, Sharon Coggins of West Point; 3 brothers, William Whitehead of Starkville, Billy Joe Whitehead of Starkville, Roy E. Whitehead of Columbus; sister, Erma Lois Booth of Columbus; 2 grandchildren, Jessica Lynn Coggins, Daniel Ray Coggins. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Thompson; brother, George Whitehead; grandchildren, Ariel Madeliene Coggins, Nicholas Taylor Coggins.
