Bob Childress

Robert “Bob” Gene Childress passed away Wednesday February 17, 2021 at NMMC-Tupelo at the age of 71. He was born May 24, 1949 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Carol Cliffton and Elizabeth Elain Hughes Childress. Bob served his country in the US Navy. He received an architectural degree from Perdue University. He worked for Indiana State University with his brother, Eddie, where they drove a mobile sonagram bus known as the MOM, Maternity Outreach Mobilization Program. He was also President of ACBL union. Later he worked in remodeling which he thoroughly enjoyed. He is survived by 2 sons, Timothy Wayne Kimbrel of West Point, Terry Lynn Kimbrel (Maxine) of Columbus; brothers, David Childress (Sherry), Eddie Childress, Terry Childress all of IN; sister, Mari Childress of SC; 4 grandchildren, Sarah Kimbrel, Jay Robert Kimbrel, Amy Edwards (Eric), Michelle Holmes (Darrel); 14 grandchildren, Ryan, Trey, Tylan, Ni’Yeon, Kayden, Kaitlyn, Eli, Ava Claire, Charlotte, Symone,E.J., Elijah, Breanna, Laketa. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Martha Childress; brother, Kenneth Ray Childresss. A graveside service will be 12 PM Monday February 22, 2021 at McPherson Cemetery with Rev. Maxine Kimbrel officiating. Visitation will be 2-4 PM Sunday at Robinson Funeral Home. Robinson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
