Betty Craft

Betty Ruth Craft, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026, at the age of 91. She was born on January 29, 1935, to Ora Franklin Baldwin and Ruth Wakefield Baldwin.

Betty graduated from Macon High School in 1953. In 1955, she married the love of her life, Hugh G. Craft. Together, they shared a beautiful life, including 20 years as a military family.

Betty dedicated 25 years of her life to the West Point School System as a teacher’s assistant. She absolutely loved teaching and treasured the children she worked with. Her caring nature, patience, and willingness to give of herself touched the lives of many.

Above all else, Betty loved her family. She was one of the most selfless people anyone could ever know and always put the needs of others before her own. Her favorite thing in the world was spending time with her family, sharing laughter, and relaying the stories of generations past. She had a wonderful gift for keeping family memories and stories alive, and those stories will continue to be cherished by those who loved her.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Ora Franklin Baldwin and Ruth Wakefield Baldwin; her husband, Hugh G. Craft; and 11 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Nash of West Point and Cathy Moffett (John) of Huntsville, Alabama; five grandchildren, Chris Craft (Jennifer), David Smith (Mollie), Laura Keenum (Josh), Zach Moffett, and Courtney Buzzard (Warren); nine great-grandchildren; and two siblings, along with many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Betty leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, selflessness, devotion, and family. She will be deeply missed, but the love she gave and the stories she shared will live on in the hearts of her family for generations to come.

Her greatest joy was her family, and her greatest gift was the love she gave to them.

A graveside memorial service will be 3 PM Sunday August 30, 2026 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Bob Rambo officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Karley Chamblee and Natalie Pate with Legacy Hospice.
