Ardell Danovsky

December 13, 1925 — March 20, 2024

Ardell Mary Piercy Danovsky, 98, passed away Wednesday March 20, 2024 at her home in West Point with her family by her side. She was born December 13, 1925 in Utica, IL to the late John Henry and Nina Nelson Piercy. 

 

A light from our lives is gone, a voice we loved is still, and a place within our hearts is left empty that can never be filled. She was well known in West Point as the ‘cake lady’. She baked cakes for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, and many other occasions. She had many names from Mother, Mom, Momma, Delly, Mrs. D, Momma D, Grandmother, Grandma, Granny, Grany D and Mudder. She married Andrew Danovsky on December 21, 1942. They had 7 children, Jack Danovsky of West Point, Patsy Gittleson of Aberdeen, Peggy Trulove (John Clemmons) of West Point, Linda Bird of Lawrenceville, GA, Judy Littlefield (Jimmy) of West Point, Andy Danovsky of West Point, Leann Brown (Gene) of West Point. Other family survivors include 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Janet Crane of LaSalle, IL and several nieces and nephews.   

                                

Funeral Services will be held at 3 PM Saturday March 23, 2024 at Calvary Baptist Church. Visitation with family and friends will be 1-3 PM Saturday at the church. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Keith Gittleson, Mike Gittleson, Brian Danovsky, Shane Danovsky, Brent Trulove, Doug Bird, Cole Danovsky. Honorary pallbearers are Steven Moore, Wayne Stewart, her sons-in-law, Jimmy Littlefield, Gene Brown, and John Clemmons.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1980, Andrew Danovsky; a grandson, Henry Tex Brown; sons-in-law, Dillard Trulove, Virgil Bird, and Wayne Gittleson; a daughter-in-law, Doris Danovsky; 2 brothers and 1 sister.

 

Memorials may be made to charity of donor’s choice. Robinson Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
