Averson Ray Parks passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at NMMC in Tupelo at the age of 84. He was born December 14, 1930 in Newton County to the late Junie Smith and Earnest A. Parks. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and served 35 years in the Air National Guard. In 1955 he accepted Christ at Ann Street Baptist Church in Mobile, AL and later attended Fairview Baptist Church in Columbus. He passed away on which would have been his and Bonnie’s 65th wedding anniversary. Funeral Services will be at 2 PM Saturday August 29, 2015 at Robinson Chapel with Rev. Aaron Boebing officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ed McDonald, Steven Searcy, George R. Searcy, David Waide, Charles Waide, and Lance Brantley. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Elliott, Frank Dichiara and Fairview Baptist Church Sunday School Class. Visitation will be from 12 AM to service time Saturday at Robinson Funeral Home. He is survived by his son, Tony Parks of Licking, MO; sister, Una Searcy of St. Cloud, FL; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bonnie Parks; and his daughter, Susan D. Covington. Memorials may be made to French Camp Academy, One fine place, French Camp, MS 39745.
